Introuction

Li Ao has noticed that his replacement passport which was issued on 6th July 2024 according to the recorded information on the passport, has lower quality compared to the previous one, which was issued on 23rd Apr 2019 according to information on the passport. With the lowered price covering the manufacturing costs, which is often called in Chinese, gongben fei, and the serve economy situation China is currently facing, the quality of the passport was degraded, as a result. It's believed that the Chinese government is downgrading quality to reduce high manufacturing costs, but because of their promised "serve for People" prosperity such high manufacturing costs are not possible to be borned by Chinese citizens.

His new passport has been used low quality inks for printing the interior pages, as he has noticed smellings which provides strong signal. Additionally, the optical image on the cover page is not aligning to the printed statue image, however his previous passport has well alignments. Furthermore, characters on the information page has bolded strokes horizontally on the right part, which indicates signals that the printing device was not maintenanced well at the time of manufacturing.

Symptoms

Issued Chinese ordinary passports in recent 2 years may most likely have degraded quality, and such situation may still continue in the upcoming years. This may include the following:

2. Degraded materials used for production which results in degraded quality, especially degraded performance, of issued passports, and
3. Degraded contactless IC manufactured by Chinese smart card manufacturers, or low quality of contactless IC manufactured by Chinese smart card manufacturers, may be used as replacement of high-quality contactless ICs of Chinese manufacturers, or high-quality contactless ICs of international companies, in order to reduce manufacturing costs.

For example for Li Ao's new passport, degraded materials were discovered to be used for manufacture, which has resulted in lowered quality of printed characters on passport's information page, image inalignments on the first cover page, and, expilicit smellings of printing inks on interior pages.

Despite these low quality materials neither contain toxic elements nor pose direct harms to human bodies, degraded quality will directly result in lowered performances of passports compared to passports issued with good quality.

Solution

Solutions to this issue would be very limited because of constraints inflated by country actions. Because those low quality passports may still satisfy the international standards, regulatory of international community would be very limited.

Civil actions may cause changes; additionally, suggestions to the government may also help in changing the situation.

Outcome

The degraded performance of new passports are already in Li Ao's expectations before this new passport was received. Because the low quality product does not cause body injuiries, he will proceed and use this passport as normally.

He will take this event into account in his future career, in the case may he participate into policy making of China as well as in the world. He hopes that high quality of products will be accessible at economy prices and would contribute to the development of human society with the ethical use of techologies.
